Pickleball Tournament   2019

On July 13, the Beachwood Historical Society and City of Beachwood hosted its second annual Pickleball Tournament at the Beachwood tennis courts. Players competed in four divisions and fun was had by all. Prizes included ribbons and gift certificates to local restaurants. Following the tournament, participants enjoyed lunch from Corbo’s. Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the USA. Elements of tennis, badminton and table tennis are interwoven in this sport, and elementary school students learn it in their physical education curriculum. The sport was introduced in 1965. Special thanks to Pete Conces, recreation supervisor; Rick Dula, moderator; and Rosemary and Jim Nemeth of the Beachwood Historical Society as co-chairs. Congratulations to this year’s winners!
